Currently, David tours with country music mega-star Travis Tritt and is based in Nashville, TN. 

Northrup’s Drum Clinics emphasize the importance of approaching the drum set musically. He demonstrates various styles and grooves, performing with tracks of Recordings he’s performed on. From Country to New Orleans Funk Jazz, he discusses the importance of being a well rounded musician with background in many styles. He touches on the Nashville Number System and his thoughts on the importance of reading. He discusses life on the road with some of Nashville’s Biggest Country Music Stars. He also shares his experience as a Nashville Studio Musician and Producer.

David plays a mixture of A Custom and K Custom range cymbals in his set-up as well as using Gary Chaffee/David Northrup modified Artist Series Zildjian signature drumsticks. Gretsch Drums, Sizes include 10, 12, 13, 14, 16 and 18x22 KICK.
